NKONO is a Malawian non-governmental organization aiming to empower the youth to discover their life's purpose and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Our programs include mentorship programs, skill building workshops, community engagement projects, nurturing talents and artistic abilities, youth school readmission campaigns, vocational trainings, guidance and counseling, career guidance awareness, and youth-led climate action initiatives.
The organization focuses on the vibrant and diverse population of Malawian youth aged 18 to 35, aiming to catalyze positive change, foster personal growth, and empower them to become active contributors to their communities. The organization seeks to actively contribute in eradicating rising challenges among the youth, including youth unemployment, drug and substance abuse, wrong use of social media, and teen pregnancy and prostitution. Youth unemployment is a significant issue in Malawi, with reduced economic activities, loss of productivity, mental health issues, decreased civic engagement, strain on social services, social unrest, crime, and reduced tax revenue. The organization also addresses the complex challenges of teen pregnancy and prostitution, which are deeply intertwined with social and economic hardship.
